Sofia Chaala
Lead Facilitator
She is an Image Coach and Educator with a strong passion for Education and learning and has taught in Zambia and in Australia, both in Secondary College and in Vocational Education respectively.

Kenneth Hakalima
Tonga Language Facilitator
A qualified primary school Teacher with an experience of over 18 years. Has taught Grades 1 – 7 both in Government and private schools. Besides teaching, he loves to sing, play basketball and soccer. Very social and a great sense of humour.
A Co- founder of Tasty Treats Cake Nation which specializes in baking cakes for all occasions. He also takes part in community work for both government and non governmental organisations. A Christian and a Facilitator for African Language Academy Australia of Zambian Tonga Language Classes.

Monica Chibale
(B.A. Psych HSS, Hons Pysch, M.A. Psych- Dissertation)
Bemba Language Facilitator
Monica Chibale is a fun and bubbly person who is passionate about touching young lives in teaching and mentoring. She lives in Eswatini ( formerly Swaziland) where she has taught Primary Education for the past 12 years.
Monica attended The University of South Africa where she majored in Psychology and is currently working as a Special Needs Educator and School Counselor at Enjabulweni Independent School in Eswatini. She is also a member of the African Language Academy Australia where she facilitates the Bemba Language online classes.
In her spare time, Monica enjoys reading, listening to music and singing, painting and fun outdoor activities.

Charles V Kaluwasha
Lunda Language Facilitator
Charles V. Kaluwasha, a Lunda Facilitator at ALAA with years of expertise teaching children from the Diaspora to speak their native tongue, specialising in training students to speak their mother tongue at their best. Charles develops a series of classes to provide novices with a fundamental level of comprehension and conversational abilities in Lunda using his experience. Charles has used the Master in Nursing- Clinical degree he received from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand by concentrating on quality control, communication, and a safe approach.
He teaches Entrepreneurship and Basic Business Skills Programs, e-Learning Software & Training at EDC/CJI Zambia. Charles may work on rostered schedules during the week, but he gets up on Sunday afternoons to teach Lunda kids because he wants to share their language. Charles is an author that enjoys reading and blogging in his spare time.

Caroline Malumbe
Nyanja Language Facilitator
Caroline Malumbe is an ambitious goal-getter who is passionate about school going children and young lives. She lives in Zambia where she has taught primary and junior secondary education for the past 10 years.
Caroline attended Malcolm College of Education in Zambia where she did a bachelor of education in primary education and majored in ICT. She is a member of the African Language Academy Australia where she facilitates the Nyanja Language online classes.
In her spare time, Caroline enjoys farming, gardening, singing and a lover of African Movies.

Nzige K Kawaka (Kawaka)
Kiswahili Language Facilitator
Nzige K Kawaka (Kawaka) is a Youth Worker and founder of Kawaka Art. Originally from Tanzania, and living in Western Australia for the past 10+ years, Kawaka’s professional background is teaching visual art to primary students. His passion is to share and promote his culture through language, visual arts and traditional African music (including drumming and dancing).
Kawaka’s goal is to restore the connection of his homeland with his children and other Diaspora children that might seek some information to feel connected with the African land, culture and people.

Kenny Phiri
Nyanja Language Facilitator
Kenny Phiri is an accredited Australian Association of Social Workers ( AASW) professional with vast experience gained working with youth and children, disability and mental health services. Besides a degree in social work, Kenny has a Diploma in Community Services and a Diploma in Biblical Studies and Christian Leadership. He is a president and founder of Touch of Grace City Fellowship Church, and co-founder of African Language Academy Australia. He is an author, facilitator of Nyanja Language Classes, sought after conference speaker who specialises in Christian teachings, premarital and marital counselling.

Frederick Mdege
Shona Language Facilitator
Frederick Mdege is a qualified primary school teacher with 19 years teaching experience.He has taught at a Government school and is currently teaching at SOS Hermann Gmeiner Children’s villages in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Frederick attended the United College of Education in Zimbabwe where he attained a Diploma in Education with a major in physical education.He also enrolled at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth,South Africa where he attained a FIFA CIES certificate in sports management.He is also the vocal person in the child protection and child safe gaurding committee at SOS Hermann Gmeiner Primary School in Bulawayo.
Frederick is also a tutor for the Africa Language Academy Australia where he facilitates Shona online classes.
His hobbies are travelling, watching movies, socialising and playing basketball.

Phyllis Muthoni
Gikuyu Language Facilitator
Mrs Muthoni Phyllis has a warm and engaging interest in people and has a heart especially for the young – looking to impact their lives as they interact in different learning environments.
She lives in the suburbs of Nairobi and has taught for more than thirty years. She has a Master of Arts and also a Diploma in teaching technical subjects. She has taught at all levels from primary to university level of learners. She also Pastors part time at a local church and is mainly involved in the teaching aspect of the ministry.
She is passionate about African languages and especially how they help to build up confidence and a deep sense of identity. This was deeply stirred by watching children growing up in urban settings who do not speak or understand their African languages. Her own children are fluent in two African languages.
In her spare time she enjoys outdoors – planting trees and flowers and also reads books, embroiders, knits and bakes bread.
